Lorn was pretty clutch last night. I was lagged and couldn't stay in the game, and with offense consisting of rage, j-w, doob, and nine, there wasn't much point to clogging it up further with somebody else.

I think no matter how much we tweak the stats on defensive ships, there will still be more incentive for a defender to crowd the crease.

I think the ultimate solution is to actually improve the goalie ship.  I know this sounds crazy but in real hockey, defenders don't crowd the crease unless its desperate because the defender is actually harming his goalie if he crowds the crease through screening and potentially deflecting the puck into his own net.  This is already starting to happen in RSHL with the amount of garbage goals scored around the crease.  For example, a defender makes the check but does not pick up the puck, thus completely throwing off the goalie's read on the play, the defender being ball killed again throwing off the goalie's read, etc.

The only reason people still crease sit given these potential risks is that the rewards are still vastly greater than the risk.  If the defender is not crease sitting and the enemy team is allowed cross crease passes, with the current goalie ship settings, its impossible for goalie to make some saves.  The goalie ship simply is not agile enough even if the read is made in time to get to a position to block the angle.  This essentially forces the defender to cr sit because if the defense doesn't, the offense will score easily.

Now, if the defender knows that the goalie can make these saves if they read the play correctly, then the necessity for them to be constantly on the crease is going to be diminished.  This will create a new risk-reward analysis as the reward is now lower and it may no longer be as beneficial for the defense to CR sit due to the fact that the goalies have a good chance to make the save anyways.

I honestly have no idea how you can really fix this CR sitting problem and this is just my opinion as a goalie.  I currently prefer my defense to play on the CR because I simple can't make it across the net fast enough to stop some plays even if I make the right read due to a combination of faster offensive ships, faster shots and passes, and a goalie ship that's just not agile enough.

unless we can somehow change the way angles work we will never get d off the crease
it just cuts off to many angles the closer they get to the crease line

I dunno it kinda sucks u have 4 of the best lvl 1's trying to play offense together meaning 2 of you prob don't get to be lvl 1. You could say fuck hockey zone and try to defeat ppl with pure skill and lace up 4 lvl 1's. If not, one of you def needs to play offensive levi (rage / doobie).

I can understand both teams were playing tight but with a few mins left I would think having lorn sitting on your own goalie was pretty useless and didn't help with offensive control or pressure one iota. Seemed like you were using season 5 game tactics there :P

Even if they had no bench in the last minute someone should tell the Levi to at least yazour it up on gk. At 30 sec seemed a bit late to pull lorn and at that time I expected to see superdan in a offense ship and goalie pulled.

don't know why I'm Monday morning qb'ing but just was confusing to witness

After watching the first week...I have come to a few conclusions...

1) Whichever team started the double defender trend is mean.  They're like the NJ Devils and the trap...its boring as hell and makes the defense overpowered.

2) Most teams are as bad as me on offense...

3) We need more goals in the league.  The game is more fun to watch when theres more goals (this is a generalization as I am sure there are players out there who enjoy watching a defensive showdown).

I propose we make the nets bigger, the crease bigger, the goalie's prox smaller and make the goalie ship faster.

A) Bigger nets = more goals and more angles to shoot at.

2) Bigger crease = forces the defenders to be further out so when they do crease sit, they don't cover as many angles and block off as much of the net.  It will force offensive players to be further from the net as well but the increase in net size should offset it.

3) Smaller goalie prox = its more fun as a goalie to active catch a puck than it is to have every puck hit you.  I personally feel prox are a bit too big and too lenient right now.

4) Faster Goalie acceleration and top speed = this is just to offset the reduction in prox size so goalies still have a chance to make the saves but will have to rely on their reaction and play reading more so than their passive prox.

How about we just leave the game the same its been?

If you change it, its a different game.
