Anti Crease Sitting Idea

Question for those who code or know continuum and ASSS

Is it possible to create an area where the ball cannot be picked up?

If yes, is it possible in this said area to only have certain ships not be able to pick up the ball?

If yes again,  idea to create a "second" crease that would be just outside of the normal crease where a defender can check but if the ball is shot at him it would go through said ship. 

This would increase the scoring area but still allow a defender to play that area for defensive purposes.

Clever, but that doesn't prevent phasing. 
If you do that trick for everyone, then the guy who shot the puck can pick it up, and what if there are two cr sitters?
If you do that trick just for the guy on the crease (which would probably be too complicated for Meretrix to do :P), then the puck will phase him for everyone else.

hah thanks for the confidence but i really have no idea how their module works. depending on what is going where with the variables it might not be as easy as doing a true or false statement.

i also have no idea how phasing works in hz. or why etc. i'd have to get a better understanding on that before anything.

i know in the dcme editor you can color code areas. I'm not sure if they are saved as variables or not? but i did something similar with hockeysaurus. i just had a world object that changed the variables on the player during collision.

Here let's keep things even more simple.

1. Keep the original crease.
2. Now create a bigger crease around this one that's maybe ~5 ship lengths out
3. Defenders cannot be inside of the bigger crease, offense can be inside of the inner crease.

It's not hockey anymore but oh well.

Can ASSS not drain energy from a ship on a certain frequency in a certain ASSS region?

Or adjust their stats?

What can ASSS do with a ship in an ASSS region? Isn't that the first question that we need to answer before we can properly theory solutions?

5 shiplengths?  Are you insane? =)

TBH I'd be more okay with this than with a "you're not allowed (to catch) in here" region.  A forbidden region (that is too far out of the goalie's prox, which I think any further out the crease would be) just turns into a cheesy passing lane.  A well balanced drain crease says "you can't just sit in here and say nothing can get behind me" but still allows the defense to effectively protect that space.

I'd argue that offense should also get drained in that region.  :)  Added bonus of being more realistic and fewer duds near the net.
With that arrangement, 5 ship lengths actually sounds about right; maybe just a bit too big.

Tight region could work.

Id go for a Lowering of all outfield proxes inside the "5 ship region" maybe add energy drain....

Taking this idea even further why not change game mecânics in the different 1/3s with ship based penaltys.

For example. a defensive WB And weasel could have no bullets in their defensive space. Likewise offensive Levi drops a bullet level or takes a rotation prnalty... Etc etc.

Finally ships would havê dedicated roles again. Could even buff spider and terrs when inside the middle 1/3...

Would finally allow all ships to havê roles and be good somewhere on the ice.

If this is possible and if you want to try something drastic, change it so that the goalie automatically picks up the puck even if a player is holding it. Then remove the crease entirely and making goalie checking illegal in all circumstances. The goalie would probably need to be changed as well for that too, but idk how.

Also another thing that might open up play a little or just do nothing, but change the back of the net to allow play from behind it. Slant the back of it or make it smaller to try and allow some more passing and movement options.

With the objective of decreasing the amount of defending ships directly on the crease w/ minimal coding work but not killing the defense entirely:

1. Make a 2nd crease X ship lengths (x=2-3?) bigger than current crease

Option A. Only 1st defensive freq ship inside 2nd CR is allowed to touch puck
- All offensive ships allowed between 1st CR and 2nd CR
- All defensive ships allowed to check between 1st CR and 2nd CR, but not catch puck (same rules and interpretation of shots as original CR, 2 in the CR not allowed even if 1st in, etc.)

Option B. Only a team's designated defender is allowed inside the 2nd CR.
- Designated defender can be changed at anytime.
- Designated defender should be visible to both teams, maybe by king of the hill graphic?
- Assign defender status via command?

Downsides:
- More garbage pickup goals
- Potentially games take longer from more DC calls
- What is penalty for catching puck inside 2nd CR as non-defender? Maybe only 1 minute penalty?
